DeFINE Food & Wine was established at the turn of the century by a soul tormented by exposure to the branded Champagne market. It has since acquired a bit of a reputation in the determined pursuit of the finest tasting liquids and solids on the planet. A beacon of hope for lovers of real wine made by real people with noble aspirations, DeFINE offers a rich palette/palate of quality wine styles, in a world where the consumer's choice has been severely hit by the consolidation and profit demands of the 'big boys.' Champions of the brave and in the insane, the Davids against the Goiliaths.
Most of the +1000 wines that grace our shelves are sourced from small, quality-committed growers and it's our job to tell you about the vision, charisma and insanity that drives them. Our team have travelled to all of the major wine growing regions from all corners of the globe in pursuit of greatness, and are eager to share their discoveries with you. If you're all ears, then there's no substitute to calling into the shop, but if you struggle to get in, our website will become more and more informative by the day, and will ensure you're up to speed with events on the front line of the wine world.
We don't specialise in any one particular region, with our attention focussing instead on hands-on, real wine that reflects the character of its grape(s), its origin and its maker, in that order. Just say no to the glut of mass produced, factory-line wines and their associated processes. (See me after class about pesticides, fungicides and weird science!) Come and meet some characters!
The DeFINE Deli supports artisan food producers from our own shores as well as the Mediterranean's. We stock an ever-changing range of over 60 farmhouse cheeses, featuring the best of British as well as continental classics (including the best Brie and Parmesan that we've come across).
The website will be refreshed daily, with exciting new products featuring regularly, so why not make it part of your 'weekly shop' routine! We always welcome positive feedback, constructive criticism or vitriolic abuse, so please contact us if you've got anything to contribute.
