De:BOOK CLUB
De:Book Club has been a wonderful addition to our De:NA. Only a couple under our belts so far but they really are very special evenings. Gatherings of good honest folk, some chat and wine to excite the mind and mouth.
Chapter 3 represents a deviation from the classics so far- we’re having a go at ‘Poor Things’ by Alasdair Gray. Yes, this is the book of the film that Emma Stone won Best Actress at the Oscars for. A wonderfully weird, raunchy romp from Glasgow to Lisbon which raises some interesting points of discussion. The session will be led once more by Howard, the former Head of English at the Grange, with a couple of ‘Lisboeta’ wines presented by Philippa to boot. We’ll also throw in a few salt cod fritters to soak up the vino and intellectual tension in the room!
Yes, it’s bonfire night, but leave the kids with a few sparklers and come and join us. Tickets cost £25.
