Massaya 2020

Date
Sunday 26th April
Time
3pm-6pm
Price
£55 per person

I’m delighted to announce the date of what has become our annual Massaya celebration, with the beloved Sami back in town. I was out in Lebanon last year, just as Israel decided to strike Hizbollah targets in Beirut, so I felt first hand the tension that Lebanese people have put up with for the best part of 50 years! Since then, as I’m sure you’ve seen in the news, for the first time, calls for change in the country have united people from all faiths in a peaceful drive for a brighter future- something Sami and Massaya has been promoting for 25 years. Civilty and tolerance and embracing the unique qualities of a special land.

Massaya now has two wineries, one in the Beqaa Valley, and one high up in Mount Lebanon in Faqra, where the white wine and rosé are made. The Faqra winery also has a restaurant that looks down over the remains of a Roman temple, with Beirut in the distance, and a sun that sets over the Mediterranean. Every Sunday afternoon they host a spectacular lunch, featuring a dazzling buffet of Lebanese mezze and dishes and a leg of lamb centrepiece. We thought it would be nice to recreate this at Define. We’ve stolen the recipes and the host- if only we could provide the view!

We’ve built a suitably strong following for the wines of Massaya over the years, and something of a fan base for Sami, so we thought we’d spread the love. Sami will update you on recent developments in the country and share more tales of his remarkable journey. We hope you can join us.

Tickets, which will include the buffet spectacular and a range of Massaya’s wines, cost £55. Bookings for 4 or more will be charged at £50 per person. Sunday 26th April from 3pm-6pm. Not to be missed.
